Supply Chain 4.0

Course description

The logistics sector represents a strategic resource for the competitiveness of businesses and the territory. Logistics impacts the cost of consumer products with a weight that averages between 10% and 15%. This sector must now respond to the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution with Supply Chain 4.0. The question that the proposed training path aims to answer is:

What changes do 4.0 technologies bring to the Supply Chain?

The fourth industrial revolution with the introduction of new technologies (from Big Data Analytics to IoT, from cloud-based platforms to autonomous robots, etc.) acts on various dimensions such as:

1) visibility and control of the operational status of the process in real-time, even in geographically distant locations;
2) interconnection of all resources and people involved in the processes, for greater integration and performance of the processes;
3) autonomous operations by people, equipment, and transportation means that can be informed and guided with minimal notice.;
4) precise analytical forecasts for evaluating supply, production, delivery, inventory, and cost trends.

This means reducing physical barriers and making every process lean, fast, and linear. Thanks to the cloud and IoT, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence, every element of the supply chain or network, whether producer, supplier, or customer, every warehouse or depot located in different locations can easily communicate with others, just as the various actors in the value chain can synchronize in the best possible way.

Supply Chain 4.0 will reduce the difficulties of performing remote activities and related waste and knows no territorial boundaries. Every aspect of distribution and inventory is improved, making the Supply Chain efficient and high-performing. With new technologies, it is possible to coordinate the producer with the warehouse, further activate e-Commerce, physical stores, and all deliveries, both to private individuals and retailers.

In an increasingly selective and competitive environment, training and competence in these aspects become the key to finding a fulfilling job and/or professionally requalifying.
