Technologies for Mobility

The electric vehicle: from product and process technologies to the main challenges in design

Course description

The spread of electric vehicles in the market is impacting sustainable mobility goals with a time horizon up to 2030. Many technological solutions are already established, but the spread and innovation in the field of electric mobility will guide the industry and the supply chains related to vehicle production in the coming years. Knowing the standards already present in the market and the technical solutions already implemented and soon to be introduced can help support the design and development of the next generations of vehicles.

Main Topics

Architecture and layout of the electric vehicle (P1/2/3/4)
Energy management
Propulsion systems: types of motors and their characteristics
Batteries for electric vehicles: technologies, types, and their characteristics
Vehicle production and assembly – benchmarks and comparisons
Charging systems: power, types, and standards / Wall boxes, charging stations, integration with the vehicle)
Safety of electric vehicles (in operation and maintenance)
The future: evolutionary scenarios of technologies
Setting and designing the electric vehicle

Participant profile

The course is intended for designers and design managers, junior and senior technicians of companies aiming to develop technical solutions or services in the field of electric mobility.

Objectives

The objective is to understand the technical and technological content of an electric vehicle and to know the basics of design and sizing.
The course, being designed within the “Lifelong Learning Initiatives” offer catalog of the PNRR Innovation Ecosystem Project “NODES – Nord Ovest Digitale E Sostenibile”, covers subjects that have been evaluated as capable of producing a significant impact in terms of intercepted territories and industrial systems and generates the possibility of increasing the capacity for sharing skills by creating a valuable network in the territory.
