Directed Energy Deposition (DED)

Directed Energy Deposition (DED) uses a laser beam to melt metallic material in the form of powder, directly onto a surface or an existing piece.
The material is fed into the focal point of the energy, where it melts and solidifies rapidly, building or repairing the part.
Key features:
  • Suitable for both manufacturing new components and repairing or coating existing parts.
  • High deposition speed and capability to work on large volumes or large components.
  • Possibility to vary the material during deposition, creating functional composition gradients.
