Web app based on generative AI to transform technical drawings of clothing items into photorealistic images, supporting communication with clients and suppliers.

Home / Case studies / From Technical Drawing to Photorealistic Image with Generative AI
In the custom clothing sector, being able to clearly represent a product even before it is manufactured is important both when discussing with the client and when coordinating with the suppliers involved in production. This need gave rise to the second project developed by CIM together with PROMALPI Srl: making garment visualization more immediate, starting from the technical drawings used during the design and development phases.
CIM developed a web app based on generative AI capable of transforming PROMALPI Srl’s technical drawings into photorealistic product images. The solution uses frontier generative models, including Google Nano Banana and FLUX, and was developed for about ten garment categories, including caps, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and jackets. Starting from the drawing, the system makes it possible to obtain a realistic visual representation of the garment, making the final result easier to read at a glance.
The web app introduces a fast and intuitive tool for product communication. PROMALPI Srl can show the client a realistic representation of the garment before it goes into production and, at the same time, share a clearer visual reference with suppliers for manufacturing the various components. The application of generative AI thus becomes part of a concrete company process, connecting technical design, visualization, and product communication.
