Program of the pathway

The Academy is ideal for professionals and corporate teams who already have an introductory knowledge of Additive Manufacturing and wish to acquire advanced skills applicable in real production contexts.

160 hours | 6 modules | Online and in-person visits

Fundamentals of Additive Manufacturing

History, trends, materials, process flows, and technology landscape.

Use cases, competitive advantages, application scenarios, business models.

Polymers and metals: PBF, DED, WAAM, SLS, MJF, SLA. Limitations, potential, and real applications.

Quality, finishing, certifications, IoT, and AI to integrate AM into the digital factory.

Advanced design, topological optimization, generative design.

Costs, ROI, LCA, implementation strategies, and adoption roadmap.

A real project, in a real context. Participants divided into groups will work on a challenge proposed by a company guided by a mentor. The goal is to develop solutions by applying the skills learned during the course.

The Project Work

The heart of the Academy is the Project Work: 40 hours on a real industrial case proposed by a company in the CIM network. Participants, organized in multidisciplinary teams and guided by a corporate mentor, apply what they have learned to develop a project of concrete value, replicable in their own production context.

Digital Factory

CIM's Digital Factory is where the digital transformation of the industry becomes concrete and measurable.
Automation, virtualization, and data work in synergy to make processes more efficient, precise, and intelligent.

We support companies at every stage of the journey: from strategic analysis to defining KPIs, up to the operational implementation of solutions. Our pilot line is a prototyping space where real technologies are tested, measured, and evolved, turning digitalization into an immediate competitive advantage.

Mentor

During the Project Work, participants are supported by a corporate mentor, a figure with direct experience in industrial contexts and innovation projects. The mentor plays an active guiding role and assists participants in project choices, work methods, and translating ideas into solutions. A point of reference that connects with the real dynamics of companies.

Tutor

A dedicated guide accompanies each participant throughout the Academy, providing constant support in training activities, clarifying content when necessary, and monitoring progress to ensure the achievement of objectives. A discreet yet essential presence that makes the training experience smoother, personalized, and high-level.

The trainers

Over 20 experts from the Polytechnic, CIM, and leading AM companies.
University professors, Competence Center experts, researchers, technologists, and managers from various industrial sectors: from automotive to aerospace, bring operational experiences and best practices gained in the field into the classroom.
A multidisciplinary faculty for a comprehensive and applied vision of Additive Manufacturing.

Diploma awarded in collaboration with the Master School and Permanent Training of Politecnico di Torino
