Ion Testing “SdC-ION R2”

Context

Capetti Elettronica Srl is committed to innovating the testing processes of certain families of Agilent controllers for ion pumps. The main objective is to improve the traceability of information related to the tests performed and to increase process automation to minimize human intervention and reduce operator discretion.

The current testing process is only partially automated: the operator follows a procedure on a PC, and the test result evaluation (PASS/FAIL) is not recorded in digital format. This limitation makes statistical analysis and historical traceability of test data more laborious. Considering that Agilent Technologies products are used in high-tech fields, it is essential to ensure that the testing process is monitored and automated in digital format.

The main objective of the project is to create an automated data flow that includes the development of a local software component to be executed on the Capetti Elettronica server, and a series of functions capable of processing data uploaded to an AWS cloud infrastructure and managing operations with a dedicated database. The functions include monitoring activities, user management, processing, and displaying results through a dashboard.

Solution

The developed solution involved the creation of a fully automated testing bench, designed to manage the entire verification cycle of certain families of Agilent Controllers for ion pumps, including the automatic recording of the final PASS/FAIL outcome.

In parallel, a dedicated backend architecture was implemented for data collection and result management on the AWS cloud platform, ensuring traceability and structured archiving of every test performed.

Thanks to this infrastructure, all test data is made available securely and controlled via the cloud to Capetti Elettronica’s Agilent customer. Subsequently, this information was integrated into the customer’s AWS environment through the development of a dedicated import pipeline, ensuring operational continuity, data reliability, and efficient sharing among the various systems involved.

Impact

The introduction of the automated testing system and the data sharing platform on AWS cloud has a significant impact on the entire project, simultaneously improving operational efficiency and the quality of collaboration between manufacturer and customer. The immediate and secure availability of test data has increased transparency, facilitated production process planning, and enabled an approach based on continuous analysis and progressive improvement. At the same time, the manufacturer benefits from a structured feedback flow, more effective management of technical information, and new service and business development opportunities. The adoption of a cloud solution also helps reduce risks, operational costs, and informational misalignments, creating a collaborative ecosystem oriented towards innovation, sustainability, and market competitiveness.
